Specialized Treatment Foster Care - DC
The Martin Pollak Project D.C. Specialized Foster Care Program is located at 4406 Georgia Avenue, N. W., Second Floor, Washington, D. C., 20011. MPP serves children from infancy to 21 years of age, who are legal wards of the District of Columbia Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA). These children are those who have been unable to adjust to or who are assessed as best served in Specialized Foster Homes.
Services include identifying immediate caring, nurturing, and supportive specialized foster parents to meet the needs of the children and youth referred. The children and youth also receive ongoing specialized social services from licensed social workers. Other services educational advocacy, case management services to address their medical, mental health , behavioral and emotional problems, learning disabilities, and teen parenting responsibilities.. The objective is the provision of therapeutic services and guidance to help each individual overcome the effects of their trauma and reach their maximum potential.
The social worker and the foster parent(s) comprise a working team to meet the needs of the child. Foster parents are key to the safety, well-being, and permanence of the child(ren) placed in their care. The judges also realize the importance of the foster parents and encourage them to attend court, whether in person or by teleconference.
